The settings in this article are available from a course's Info page. From main navigation go to Courses > your course name, and from secondary navigation select Info.
The following screenshot shows an example course Info page, with all course features enabled.
Some features, including forums and custom course data, are turned on by Safety Made Simple on request. Contact the support team to ask for these features.
The course reference code field is a flexible option to store internal information associated with the course. Examples include your organization's own course codes, instructor names, course hours, internal training costs.
The code appears after you create and save your course name.
Custom course data lets you add details about your courses to a course, for internal use. These fields aren't visible to learners, only to admins and people running reports.
Add a course description and objectives to your course. A course description helps users find your course with search tools. Course images support the look and feel of your brand within a course.
This step adds an individual course to the internal course catalog: learners can see it listed, and either enroll or request enrollment.
If the course is not listed in the catalog, learners can't find it by browsing or by search.
Learners can write reviews about your course. Their contents appear on this page.
Select Export to Excel to export your reviews to a spreadsheet. The application compiles the reviews to a downloadable file.
Enrollment notification defaults are set at the portal level. These defaults determine which messages your learners get automatically.
If you use any ILT (Instructor-Led Training) modules, you turn on notifications at the portal level, to make them available to the whole portal. You then set them for each course.
All other notifications about courses are set from Courses > my course > Notifications, including:
These settings control access to the course, how learners interact with the course, and with the course instructor or owner.
Safety Made Simple lets you add certificates to courses, so learners receive a certificate when they finish a course.
Association members can receive learning credits towards professional development programs, for completing a course. You assign the credit values for the course from this page.
You need to enable associations, and set up credits, to make the credits visible to members on their courses.
A due date sets an advisory date for a user to complete a course. After the due date passes, users can still access the course.
A valid period, also called an expiry date, sets a definite date for when a user must complete a course. After the valid period expires, users cannot access the course.
If you use gamification to offer badges for achievements and for completing courses, you add new badges to courses from the Info page.
You need to enable gamification for the portal, to make this setting visible.
