Add images for a course or learning path

Intended Audience:  Administrators, Instructors

Summary

As a part of your course settings, upload up to 3 images to represent a course or learning path, and set 1 image as a thumbnail.

Use JPEG or PNG image formats for best results and set image sizes to 600 x 400px.

For course and learning path images:

·        ratio is 16:9

·        minimum recommended size is 800 x 450 px

You can use Safety Made Simple’s cropping tool to resize large images by double clicking on the image.

Image ratio change: from 3:2 to 16:9

As Safety Made Simple updates its interface to meet customer needs better, the ratio of course images is changing from 3:2 to 16:9.

The 16:9 aspect ratio is the current standard for HD (high definition) video content, and is typical for TVs, laptops, tablets, phones, and computer screens. This ratio fits more image content horizontally, allows room for text, and requires less scrolling on a page.

This change is part of the development of the learner HomeMy Learning and Catalog pages.

For existing course and learning path images: Safety Made Simple will automatically resize images in customer portals so they meet this standard.

When you upload new images for courses and learning paths, the image cropping tool provides the 16:9 ratio.

The following screenshots illustrate the change from 3:2 to 16:9 ratio: the shaded areas are cropped from the existing images.

Note: If you use test or an overlay in your course images, this change could affect your resulting image.
